Payment transactions

We have developed both standard payment solutions and special collection solutions adapted to your company's activity.

Domestic payment transactions include payment transactions in euros between the payer and the payee located in Slovenia.

For legal persons, entrepreneurs and private persons, or anyone who receives and makes payments daily, we provide the following:

  • High-quality performance of payment transactions.
  • A simpler, faster and more secure way to exchange data electronically.
  • Expert assistance from your account administrator who monitors your transaction account operations and provides friendly advice in accordance with your wishes.

Non-cash and cash payments are effected using the standardised UPN form (universal payment order).

The time for the submission and execution of orders is specified in schedule of operations for transaction accounts.

How the payment system works

Domestic payment transactions are processed in the order they are received. This means that an order that exceeds the transaction account balance will not be processed until there is sufficient balance available in the transaction account. Payment orders received subsequently and for amounts lower than the account balance are therefore processed before any orders that exceed the transaction account balance unless agreed otherwise between the bank and the client.

Two systems are in use: SEPA ICP and TARGET2 (real-time gross settlement).

In the SEPA ICP system, payments up to €50,000 are not immediate, they are executed in five time intervals (at 08:00, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:30). In the TARGET2 system, payments up to and including €50,000, as well as urgent payments, are executed immediately upon receipt of the payment order.

SEPA mass payments

A SEPA mass payment is where a payment is debited to the payer’s transaction account in full, while its individual parts are credited into multiple transaction accounts of payees.

  • Individual and mass credit transfers are carried out using the uniform ISO SEPA XML standard.
  • No need to conclude a separate agreement with the bank.
  • SEPA mass payment files can be submitted up to 180 days in advance.

Additional information on SEPA mass payments SEPA mass payments are designed for legal persons, entrepreneurs and private persons who have a transaction account with UniCredit Bank and make payments in euros to a large number of recipients. With SEPA mass payments, you can remit funds in euros to beneficiaries at any bank in Slovenia. They are carried out in accordance with the SEPA Credit Transfer Scheme.

SEPA mass payments are a replacement for direct credits and are used for instance in salary payments, annual leave pay, dividends, rents and other earnings. SEPA mass payment operations are carried out electronically via the E-bank system.

SEPA direct debits

A SEPA direct debit allows a creditor to debit a debtor’s account on any date that the creditor and the debtor agree in advance with a signed authorisation document. In this way, companies can manage their solvency more easily as their operations can be adjusted according to the money coming into the account, reducing short-term indebtedness and providing savings on short-term borrowing costs, while having the ability to perform financial transactions using just one transaction account.

SEPA direct debits can be carried out according to two schemes:

  • the SEPA Direct Debit Core Scheme, where payers are generally natural persons – consumers
  • the SEPA Direct Debit Business to Business Scheme, intended exclusively for payers who are legal persons, entrepreneurs and private persons

The advantages of SEPA direct debits for companies:

  • Standardised operating rules for the entire SEPA area
  • Payment discipline can be regulated more
  • Simplified cash management
  • Protection against non-payment or late payment
  • Automatic debiting

Cross-border payment transactions are payment transactions carried out in EUR or in other currencies of Member States* where the payer and the payee have accounts with payment service providers in different Member States.

*A Member State is a country that is a member of the EU or a signatory to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein). A third country is any country outside the EU.

For all legal persons, entrepreneurs and private persons who receive payments from abroad and settle obligations to business partners in foreign countries, we provide the following:

  • The extensive international network of the UniCredit Bank banking group.
  • High-quality performance of payment transactions.
  • The ability to perform payment transactions at lower prices via electronic banking systems (E-bank, BusinessNet).
  • Expert assistance from your account administrator who monitors your transaction account operations and provides friendly advice in accordance with your wishes.
Regulated cross-border payment transactions

Regulated cross-border payment transactions are cross-border transactions that meet the conditions below.

  • Payment is done in EUR, SEK or RON.
  • The beneficiary’s account is stated in line with the IBAN structure.
  • The beneficiary’s bank is stated in the form of a BIC (SWIFT) code.
  • The cost payment option is SHA, which means that the payer pays charges to their bank and the payee to theirs.

The cost of regulated cross-border payment transactions is the same as for domestic payment transactions.

Other payment transactions with foreign countries

Other payment transactions with foreign countries are payment transactions that are effected:

  • In a third country’s currency, if the payment is transferred into the territory of Slovenia, the territory of another Member State or the territory of a third country.
  • In EUR or another currency of a Member State, if the payment is transferred into the territory of a third country.

The time for the submission and execution of payment transactions with foreign countries is specified in the schedule of operations for transaction accounts.
